Description: Postcard with sketched image of the Mountain House on top of Mount Holyoke, the postcard has the inscription at the bottom, "MOUNTAIN HOUSE BUILT 1821/ MT. HOLYOKE MASS." The image shows a small, one room log structure on the left , a rocky foreground, and trees and other mountains in the background, on the reverse is printed "POST CARD", Place stamp here, and the pencil inscription "Aug 15 1926" Note from Peter Spang reads: Original early 20th century postcard illustrating "Mountain House" or "Summit House" atop Mount Holyoke. Note on reverse: "Aug. 15, 1926" in pencil. Mention has been made that there was a building made of logs on the summit, dating from perhaps 1820. Perhaps this is a copy image of that building. Compare to clock face by "Nathan Storrs" with engraving on an early log building at Historic Deerfield." Referring to HD 2013.10.
