Description:
One of two English delft plates decorated in blue and purple powder ground. The rim, which is covered with purple powdered ground extending into the well, has four hexagonal reserves with stylized flowers alternating with four fan-shaped reserves with Ming birds. The center well has an octagonal reserve with a bamboo stalk with an arching leafy branch on the left and two large flowers on the right. Fragments with this design were found by F. Garner during his excavations at Lambeth.
