Description:
Pair of fans or sweeps, made from turkey feathers. Fans made from turkey feathers were common and relatively inexpensive item from the mid-19th through the early 20th centuries. The durable feathers held up well, and were readily available in America. The Charleston Museum has a similar, single example in its collection (see data file).
