Description:
Man's fine white linen shirt featuring geometrically cut (rectangles and squares) pattern pieces, an overly long length, high collar (3.375"), and full sleeves gathered into 2.875"cuffs. Like many shirts from the period, the shirt body is wide and long, accomodating movements of the wearer and serving as the primary undergarment beneath more tailored waistcoats and coat,and tucked into breeches or trousers. 9.5" long vent on either side secured with a reinforcing gusset. Shirt is gathered into collar in both front and back, and the 9.75" long center front gusset and each cuff are secured with two mother-of-pearl buttons. Each shoulder is reinforced with matching linen in the lining. The linen is finely woven in a blalanced plain weave about 68 tpi x 68 epi.
