Description:
Man's black oilcloth (or waxed cotton) hat with a black twisted six-ply string hat band tied around base of crown (strings have been stiffened and ends knotted) and rounded crown and flat brim. The brim is 2.65" deep on side and in back, and 2.5" in front; the crown is 6.5" wide by 7.5" deep by 4" tall, lined with coarse printed cotton, blue and white vaguely floral, vaguely geometric design. Top and sides of crown are lined in slightly different though matching patterns (same colors)...feedbags? Loosely woven straw inner lining between cotton and oilcloth. This was probably a work (farmer's?) hat.
