Man's shirt, labeled inside "TRADE/MARK/ The Ace/ Phillips-Jones Corporation/ U.S.A." The shirt is a good example of early men's ready-to-wear cotton shirts for more casual occasions. Into the 20th century, the manufacturer became known as Phillips-Van Heusen. In 1919 the company was involved in a court case with Rosenberg & Co. over the use of the word "Ace" in its products (Rosenberg & Co. used "American Ace" to advertise its products).
