Description:
Pair of man's over-drawers in natural colored linen. The light weight, utilitarian fabric, open fly area, and absence of any means to secure the legs of the breeches at the hem, all suggest a garment worn over (or perhaps underneath) a man's regular breeches. The more fitted construction of this example, however, combined with zig zag stitching to keep seam allowances flat, may suggest underdrawers worn closer to the body. The metal buttons securing the front waistband are more modern replacements.
