Description:
A divination ritual implement, the agere Ifa holds the sixteen sacred palm nuts (ikin Ifa) used by a Yoruba diviner while "casting Ifa." The base of the container depicts a hunter/warrior sitting astride his horse, accompanied by sword and gun bearers as an image of power and prestige. The lid depicts a bird grasping a shrieking lizard. More than a container, this depicts Ifa as a way of finding aid for life's struggles.
