Description:
Woman's 18th-century open robe made from yellow and white damask-weave silk that was altered signifcantly, and partially unassembled, perhaps in the 19th or 20th century. The fashion fabric features chinoiserie-inspired motifs, and may date to the firsy quarter of the 18th century. Isnide the robe is lined with a combination of ombre-striped silk and unbleached, plain weave (dark brown) linen. The sleeve flounces are lined with a modern blue silk.
