Description:
A illustration from the Tale of the Heike, the great epic about the rise and fall of the Taira clan. It is printed in sumi, or chinese black ink, and was then hand colored and sprinkled with powdered metal, probably brass. A vertical view of six men in various color robes sitting on a platform with three men sitting in the yard, facing left, with a tree by the side. Clouds above and below the scene.
