Description:
Small wooden pagoda shape, painted white with four lower stages, removable "finial" with eight rings and chatra. Printed scroll inside.

Label Text:
The One Million Pagodas and Darani Prayers were commissioned by the Empress Shōtoku (Koken). This particular pagoda was from the Temple Hōryūji in the ancient capital of Nara. The printed text included on the scroll is among the oldest in the world.
