Description:
Molded, paneled redware jug, with attached “7” shaped handle, spout is molded with image of a satyr or an old man; the whole is covered in a layer of lead glaze with also has streaks of manganese brown oxide on an orange-colored earthenware ground. Mold taken from an English relief molded jug. Possibly part of the Burton N. Gates collection. Could be Gates notecard for #108, "Pitcher./ col. of Wilkins, 1911./ Red clay. Rockingham glaze. Carved head/ below lip. Walley says moulds of this are still at "Stirling."/ note Walley remark above."
