Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a marble original dating to the Archaic Period, ca. 525 BCE. This cast is of the right half of the east frieze of the Siphnian Treasury at Delphi depicting a battle between the Greeks and the Trojans. Three horses, one of them ridden by a horseman, are pictured galloping to the left. To the right of the horses, two standing soldiers, one wearing a helmet and both carrying shields, proceed to the right. Both standing soldiers have partial right legs and all three horses have missing or truncated legs. The original relief after which this cast is made is located at the Delphi Archaeological Museum in Delphi, Greece.
