Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a marble original dating to the Classical Period, ca. 420 BCE. This grave stele pictures, on the right, a standing youth with his head, turned to the left, in profile. He holds a small bird in his left hand and reaches out with his right arm. To his left is a small male figure, probably a young male servant, standing in front of a pillar with a crouched cat sitting atop it. The band of molding above the figures is decorated with lotus flowers and palmettes. The original relief after which this cast is made is located at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece.
Provenience: Greece, Salamis
