Description:
English pearlware oval gravy boat that is part of an eighteen-piece dinner service. The footed boat has an attached handle; top rim has molded and scalloped shell-edge rim, which is painted green; the handle edged in green; and green and purple sprigs are painted on both sides. Many examples of green shell-edge dinnerware, a type of ceramic that was often made for export to America, have been found in archaelogical excavations in Deerfield. These pieces are typical of the type of dinnerwares used by Deerfield residents in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
