Description:
Cast handle fragment from a latten (sheet brass) spoon with a long strip of metal with a flared and flattened end; the terminal with two ribs; the central section with a faceted surface; the other end with the suggestion of paired leaves and fluted on the underside. The spoon is coroded along its length and has little evidence of tinning. Seventeenth-century flatware with a remote association to western Massachusetts of any sort is extremely rare. Unknown archaeological context, assumed to be western Massachusetts.
