Label Text:
Cornell is known for his shadow boxes and decoupage works such as this Floral Collage. Playing with associations of faraway places or reminiscences of dreams, the artist juxtaposed and pasted together mass-produced ephemera, including found photographs and newspaper and magazine clippings. Resisting an easy interpretation, this combination forces the viewer to see recognized images in a new light.
