Description:
Large pin cushion decorated with petit point needlework of a large floral sprays surrounded by a border in reds, greens, browns, and white, with beaded tassels in each of the four corners. A note that came with the cushion reads: "In 1844 / a wedding gift to / Mr. & Mrs. Elkanah M. Reynolds / of Stanwich, / from Mr & Mrs. J. Renolds / loaned by / Edna Reynold Ferris / Mrs. H. H. Ferris." Elkanah Mead Reynolds (1817-1892) married Sarah Sackett Wilson (1819-1903) in 1844. Stanwich is an area of Greenwich, Connecticut.
