Description:
Three grinding stones and one hand axe in cream-colored "Longmeadow sandstone." The nearest outcropping of similar material is on the northeast base of Mt. Tom near Northampton, Mass. These were in the PMVA collection (numbers unknown) identified as Indian artifacts although this attribution has been questioned. There are a number of similar objects identified as Indian Stone Axes, Chisels and Gouges listed in Case B of the Indian Room.
