Description:
interior, three arches at back, skulls on shelf with skeleton hanging left of largest arch, pears hang over arch, papers and skull on shelf to its right, books and papers littering lower left floor below man in robe at bookstand poring over large book, robed man smoking elaborate water pipe in lower right, man in apron with glasses at back left hand turning a three drums, man in coat with back toward viewer at right reading notices on wall, central table with men seated on stools around it engaged in various types of paper examination, by eye, with magnifying glass, under a microscope and by wringing it.
