Description:
Glazed white watch paper with an engraved advertisement in black for "LATHROP BILLINGS / WATCHMAKER / & Jeweller / N. York." over "M. FRENCH" pencilled in ink on the front, and "Related to Billings of S. Deerfield / From Buri." in pencil on the back. The son of Timothy (1770-1860) and Ann Dwelly Billings (1779-1858) of Deerfield, Lathrop Billings (1802-after 1870) is listed as a watchmaker in Deerfield in the 1870 US Census. However, no New York association has been found to date.
