Description:
Side chair with a banister back, with traces of black paint. The chair has a double-arched crest rail; three turned banisters with the flat side faced forward; turned side posts with acorn finials; rush seat; two turned front legs and two ball-and-ring turned front stretchers, and two plain side and one back stretchers.

Label Text:
Persis Hoyt Sheldon's (1747-1829) will, dated September 12, 1828, lists "six kitchen chairs" and the Memorial Hall Museum has similar banister-back chairs descended from the Hoyt family of Deerfield.
