Description:
All birch, narrow, boxed bead plane with maker's imprint of "J + CLAP" on the toe. Narrow, flat chamfers. Stops turn out. Uncleaned or oiled. Wedge original. Iron not original. Two inches of boxing missing at the rear. Boxing possibly cherry. No owners imprints. Connecticut River Valley wedge relief. Joseph Clap, the possible maker of this plane, was born in Deerfield, MA in 1769, and died in Montague, MA in 1821.
