Description:
Stephen George Maniatty (1910 - 1984) was lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Stephen Maniatty is known for landscape, mural, still life, art education, and etching. Maniatty was born in Norwich, CT in 1910. He graduated from the Massachusetts School of Art in 1933. Framed oil painting on canvas, view of the rear of Sheldon House, Deerfield, Massachusetts, with two figures standing near the back door (Peter Spang and Elizabeth Childs.)

Before purchasing his own home in Deerfield, Peter Spang, first curator and later Trustee of Historic Deerfield, lived in the Sheldon House apartment. Deerfield artist Stephen Maniatty captured Peter at his door speaking to Guide Elizabeth L. Childs.
