Description:
Evening coat worn by Helen Geier Flynt (1895-1986). Flynt, along with her husband Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970) founded Heritage Foundation, later Historic Deerfield, in 1952. The coat is made from purple silk velvet with square rhinestone buttons securing the center front of the garment. A label inside notes the maker as "B.H. Wragge." Wragge was a higher end manufacturer of women's sportswear who began making collegiate clothing for women in the 1920s.
