Embroidered jacket worn by Helen Geier Flynt (1895-1986) during the late 1960s or early 1970s. Helen, along with her husband Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970), founded the Heritage Foundation, later Historic Deerfield, in 1952. The jacket, which is unlined and without a label, was likely custom-made for Helen. It features polychrome “folk” embroidery in horizontal bands, and secures at the center front with two self fabric-covered buttons. The jacket was styled with a pointed turned-down collar, and two patch pockets at the hip.
