Description:
Black hat worn by Helen Geier Flynt (1895-1986) during the 1950s. Helen, along with her husband Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970), founded the Heritage Foundation, later Historic Deerfield, in 1952. The hat is round in shape, made from black wool felt and trimmed all around with matching black fur. There is a black satin bow placed at the back. The label inside reveals the maker as “BEST & CO./ FIFTH AVE. NEW YORK” inside. Lining the interior hatband is a purple grosgrain ribbon with darker purple lace. A hat pin remains inside.
