Description:
Seth Pomeroy (May 20, 1706 – February 19, 1777) was an American gunsmith and soldier from Northampton, Massachusetts. His military service included the French and Indian War and the early stages of the American Revolutionary War. He fought as a private soldier in the Battle of Bunker Hill, but was later appointed a major general in the Massachusetts militia. Historic Deerfield also owns a pair of steel pipe tongs made by Pomeroy. HD 96.033. Small cast bronze bullet mold of two hinged parts, mold makes 4 bullets, the mold is narrow with a circular peened hinge in the center, four concave circular depressions with slight indentation at top of mold for pouring in the lead, and two pointed attached handles for opening and closing. Engraved very faintly on back of mold, "Seth Pomeroy's Molds 1760"
