Description:
Photograph of Polly Geary Graves (1797-1883) of Hatfield, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Nathan and Martha Wait Geary, and married Thaddeus Graves on March 21, 1821. Historic Deerfield also owns the sampler Polly wrought or worked at age 13 while receiving needlework instruction, perhaps attending a local, Hatfield-area school (see 2015.29.1). Geary was born on Septeber 3, 1797 in Hatfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Nathan (from Sterling, MA) and Martha Wait (from Hatfield) Geary. On March 21, 1821, Polly married Thaddeus Graves (1794-1831) of Hatfield. Polly Geary Graves died on March 12, 1883.
