Description:
Thrown jug with a handle at right angles to the spout coated with layer of green glaze on the exterior and brown glaze on the interior; incised mark on the base, "OLD DEERFIELD/ POTTERY/ MASSACHUSETTS". The rim of this object is chipped. This collection of objects was owned by Stephen Maniatty, a painter who lived in Deerfield, MA. This object was made by Edward "Ted" Norman (1911-2005), who worked as an arts and crafts potter at the Bloody Brook Tavern in Deerfield, Massachusetts, in the 1930s - 1950's.
