Drop-leaf table in maple and pine, originally painted black, with a rectangular top and two drop leaves with molded edges (square when opened), cyma-curved apron ends, and four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet with faint ribbing. Drop-leaf tables were often referred to by size, which were approximate such as 4 foot table, 4 1/2 foot table, etc.; this piece would have been a "4-foot table."

Label Text:
Persis Sheldon's Sept, 12, 1828 will listed a "spruce four-foot dining table." This table was owned by the Childs family and probably made in the Deerfield-Hatfield area.
