Description:
Urn-shaped vase covered with polychrome enamels in pink, green, rust red, bright yellow, rose, and orange. The vase (lid missing) is encircled with molded petals around the upper rim; egg and dart molding on the shoulder; molded swags; flutes, and a beaded base with another egg and dart molding around the foot. The neck of the vase is decorated with an oval reserve with a classically derived profile portrait of a woman; the body of this vase is a mystery at the present - it is either a very dense white stoneware or a porcelain. Historic Deerfield would appreciate any information on the origin or manufacture of this piece.
