Description:
Framed drawing of a stone bridge in a landscape setting with a large stone or masonry bridge in the center which crosses a river; a rocky outcropping with two trees on the left side; four large boulders in front of the bridge on the right side; and a line of tree tops and trees in the background. The drawing, which is probably based on a popular English print, is done with pencil, crayon, and watercolors. The drawing came from the estate of Mary Hawks, Wapping, Massachusetts, and may represent the work of one of her ancestors. It is possible that this drawing was a work from Deerfield Academy. The piece is framed in a wide veneered walnut flat frame with glass, and appears to be the original glass, frame and backboard. Needs conservation for the toning, foxing, and staining on the drawing.
