Description:
Wooden gavel with a brass plaque: "PRESENTED TO HENRY N. FLYNT, BY WILLIAM E. GASS/ THIS GAVEL, MADE FROM CEILING BEAM/ OF THE OLD INDIAN HOUSE, BUILT IN 1698". William Gass worked extensively with the Flynts in finding the appropriate architectural materials and restoring the houses that are now part of Historic Deerfield. The gavel has a ring-turned head and shaped handle that ends in a small acorn finial.
