Description:
Oval basket with two handles on each side, and the top on the bag lifts up from a hinge in the back. The reticule-shaped basket is woven with dark brown reeds in a basket weave pattern. A paper tag attached to reticule has ink inscription which reads: "This reticule belonged to Ruby Graves Stebbins great grandmother of Florence Stebbins Shaw" and "E 74". Ruby Graves (1797-1877) of Sunderland, Massachusetts, married Zebina Stebbins (1797-1879) of Deerfield, son of Ebenezer Stebbins, on January 14, 1819. Zebina was a miller and farmer who lived at Sugar Loaf and the Mill; they had 10 children. Ruby died on May 25, 1877, at the age of 80.
