Description:
Broadside announcing (in part), "AUCTION SALE! / OF / Personal Property. / AT THE OLD TAYLOR FARM, IN / EAST CHARLEMONT / OPPOSITE BUCKLAND STATION AT 10 O'CLOCK, A.M. / ON / FRIDAY, OCT. 7, '87..." The "Old Taylor Farm," site of the auction, dates to mid 18th century, when it was settled by Othniel and Martha Arms Taylor. In 1879 the Taylor Family moved to Nebraska. The purchaser, Alonzo Thayer, is the person selling the same farm in 1887. In very poor condition when it arrived in the collection, but conserved at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center in 2000.
