Description:
One of two silver tablespoons with a pointed oval bowl with swag-formed rounded drop, beveled handle, downturned, flat fiddle handle, and rounded shoulders, which is marked "J.S" for John Staniford (1737-1811), and engraved with the initials "RC TO TL [?]" in script engraved on the front of the handle. Historic Deerfield has a set of tools (HD 57.251) belonging to John Staniford, which includes a rare punch mark for making initials on silver and his maker's mark.
