The early career of William Glackens is similar to Shinn's; after studying at the Pennsylvania Academy, he settled in New York and joined forces with the other members of The Eight. Inspired by Frans Hals, Diego Velázquez, Edouard Manet, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, he is known for his dynamic and colorful compositions.
