Crewel-embroidered coverlet of intertwining vines, flowers, and birds on a linen background with a later fringe. Formely in the collection of Joanne Morse of Brooklyn, New York. According to HD Acquisitions 1986, "Its cartouche design with flowers, birds, and fleurs de lis suggest a probable French origin and a date of c. 170. Its discovery in an old house in Benson, Vermont, near Lake Champlain, raises the question of a possible Canadian provenance.
