Description:
Three piece suit worn by Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970) of Monson, Massachusetts, as a young boy. The suit consists of a Zouave-style coat, sleeeveless, back-fastening waistcoat, and breeches. The waistcoat is embroidered with two anchors and a red star on the upper center front (chest) area. Waistcoat is backed with a more serviceable cotton, buttoning center back and fitted with a strap with metal buckle. The coat and breeches are decorated with small brass shank buttons on the cuffs and knee areas. Possibly 1860s? An elastic suspender system built into the breeches' waistband in back is stamped "Pat'd Mch 4, 1864." The suspenders affix to a bad within the breeches that buttoned onto the shirt (now missing ) worn with the suit that would have helped keep the outfit together and tucked in while Flynt played.
