Description:
Woman's narrow, envelope-like hat of polychrome wool tweed. Asymetrical applied self-design on one side and elastic strap worn in back of the wearer's head. Part of going away suit worn by Cathleen Clare Esleeck after her wedding, December 16, 1944. Purchased from Mae Dunn's millinery shop on Main Street, Greenfield. A practical choice for traveling, Esleeck's tailored suit was influenced by menswear and WWII, the latter reflected in its army-like dark green coloring and soft hat.
