Description:
Cup and Saucer, China, c. 1780. Hard-paste porcelain with overglaze polychrome enamels. Shallow bowl-shaped cup and circular saucer, both decorated with overglaze enamels in the Mandarin palette, mostly orange and pink, depicting a Chinese scene of a man looking out of a window talking with a young woman seated at a table and a boy holding a flower. The border has pink dots and alternating reserves of flowers and landscapes. This appears to be the Chinese design source for New Hall Factory’s "Boy in the Window" pattern, No. 425. See HD 87.040.1. Label on base “Huxley-Robinson Collection/ 7.82 23” Condition: two chips at 5 o'clock on the saucer rim.
