Description:
Brooch made up of composite parts. In its current state, it resembles a upside down crescent with five extensions resembling an abstracted waterfall (or upside down, a crescent with an aigrette). The crescent part is very likely mid-19th century, however the waterdall extension is likely earlier, perhaps late 18th or early 19th century. Scratch weight inscriptions and multiple repairs are evident. The brooch fastens with a C-clasp. The cut-glass stones, known as paste, resemble diamonds, and feature black dots (a hallmark of better-quality paste stones) in the waterfall. The paste stones in the crescent are different, however. A gold tab is present to stabilize the waterfall feature.
