Description: Resembling a choker, this necklace appears to be a combination of repurposed elements. Made of silver, it features paste stones (each stone contains a black dot in the center to give depth, a feature found in all higher-quality paste stones). each end (1" or so) is probably a new insertion to the original piece. Originally fastened with a clasp, now removed. The center portion shows an extension to accomodate a pendant, however that extension is pointing upwards and soldered, suggesting either a bad repair, or that the central portion was inserted upside down. Repair inscriptions include "2035" and 9/87[weight notation X--]. Flanking the central portion, another repair inscription -scratch weight with silver. No assay marks. In summary, this may be an original, 18th-century piece that has been enlarged and added to, to resemble a choker from the period.
