Description:
Silver tablespoon with an elliptical bowl with a rounded drop and shell, and spatulate-end handle with a short mid-rib, which is marked "NA" in a rectangle for Nathaniel Austin (1734-1818), and engraved with the initials "P / CS" on the back of the handle. Austin worked in Charlestown until 1776 when his house and shop were destroyed during the British bombardment; he later moved to Boston where he was listed in Boston directories from 1789-1816.
