Description:
Upholstered cherry back stool which descended in the Trumbell and Cogswell families of Worcester, Massachusetts and was purchased from Mary Louisa Trumbell Cogswell Roberts, the daughter of John Beare Dosne Cogswell and Mary Abbott. The red moire moreen covered back has a straight top and sides, over an upholstered seat, edged with brass nails. The square, Chippendale front legs are channeled on the front and outside side; the side and back stretchers, and slightly flared back legs are plain.
