Description:
Freeform lines in black, blue, red, green, and yellow, against a brown background. "This is a plate from a portfolio called 'L'Origine de l'Espace." We had this reframed. There's discoloration on the paper from where it was originally matted, however the color change doesn't really detract from the print." -RG, Collector's Notes.

Label Text:
Label text from “The Art of Collecting: Contemporary Prints from the Risa Gerrig Collection,” September 10 – October 12, 2014:
Man Ray creates a painterly abstract composition of free-form lines using a limited color scheme. The delicate balance between line, color, and space emphasizes the materiality of the work, while the expressive marks and color washes contrast organically with the jagged abstract forms. The overall graphic quality recalls Man Ray’s innovative photographic compositions, which explore surrealist abstractions of familiar images. - Shelby Miner (B.A. ’15)
