Description:
Corset made for a girl or young woman. Bone eyelets up the center back to aid in lacing; gussets at breasts and waist. By the early 19th century, corsets became less rigid than their 18th-century counterparts (known as stays). Understructures like this example gently shaped the wearer's torso to give the correct posture. Corsets also helped support skirts and petticoats whose weight was greatest around the waist.
