Description:
English pearlware, circular bowl decorated in underglaze blue. The outer surface of bowl is decorated with a chinoiserie landscape with a pagoda-like building, willow trees, running fence, flying birds, and stylized foliage. The interior rim is encircled by a diamond diaper or trellis pattern; the bowl has an applied foot rim. A number of factories in England, including the Leeds Pottery, made this ware. It was used in Deerfield too, where many fragments have been found in the ground. E.H. Williams 1838 probate inventory.
