Description: Purse, poss. American, mid-19th century. Tan silk open plain weave, decorated with polychrome crewel-embroidered lozenge shapes, each in shades of red, green, or blue, and all outlined in yellow. Pink silk tassels flank each side of the top-opening. The rectangular purse was carried with a double strand of twisted pink silk cord, which also outlines the purse itself.
